AVL Tech Day - Solution for Extinguishing Systems for Battery Electric Vehicles

As the mobility industry continues its rapid transformation, the rise of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) has brought battery safety to the forefront of technological priorities. In response to this challenge, AVL is developing advanced solutions to address thermal runaway events in high-voltage battery systems—an essential step toward ensuring safer electric mobility.

On Wednesday, May 21st, AVL Iberica hosted the "AVL Solution for Extinguishing Systems for Battery Electric Vehicles Tech Day” at its facilities in Mataró, Barcelona. The event served as a platform to present the company’s latest innovations in fire suppression technology and to engage with regional industry stakeholders interested in exploring new approaches to BEV safety.

The technical sessions held at the offices building introduced two key technologies developed by AVL: the AVL Stingray™ One and the  AVL Stingray™ Testbed. The AVL Stingray™ One is a compact and portable system designed for rapid deployment in critical scenarios, offering a robust first-response solution to battery-related thermal incidents. The AVL Stingray™ Testbed, on the other hand, is designed for use in testing and validation environments and represents an integrated approach to thermal safety and functional battery analysis.

After the initial presentations, attendees moved to our AVL Service Hub facilities, where both systems were demonstrated live. This hands-on session allowed participants to see the technologies in action, observe their effectiveness in a controlled environment, and exchange insights with AVL’s technical team.

The event generated strong interest and positive feedback from participants, who acknowledged the relevance and potential of the solutions presented. The live demonstration was particularly well received, offering a clear perspective on how AVL’s technologies can support the industry's efforts to enhance electric vehicle safety.

This initiative reinforced AVL’s commitment to safety innovation in electric mobility and strengthened its position as a key technology partner in the development of advanced solutions for battery electric vehicles.
