AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor™

Particle Counter for Air Quality & Emission Measurement
Video file

Air pollution is a pressing issue worldwide as recently confirmed by the WHO guidance document released in 2021. With decades of expertise in condensation particle counter technology and vehicle emissions testing equipment, AVL now applies its proven measurement know-how to the environmental sector. The AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor™ accurately quantifies ultrafine and nanoparticle number concentrations in ambient air, delivering reliable data for air quality research and regulation.

Designed for durability, precision, and ACTRIS compatible, the UltraFine Particle Monitor empowers regulatory agencies, research institutions to implement effective emission measurement systems and strengthen air quality monitoring programs. By turning high-resolution data into actionable insight, AVL helps drive cleaner technologies and contributes to a healthier, more sustainable planet.

In the face of global air pollution challenges, AVL is committed to driving innovative solutions. Understanding the emerging significance of ultrafine particle monitoring, we developed the instrument based on the condensation particle counting technology. We addressed these needs to empower environmental experts with an instrument that is easy to use and highly stable in operation performance and precision. The AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor is a solution tailored to tackle the microscopic yet significant world of ultrafine particles, offering environmental experts the tools they need to make a tangible difference.

Engineered for stability and continuous operation, the AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor™ functions as a continuous particle monitoring solution.

The Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) technology detects aerosol particles down to nanometer scale by enlarging them for optical detection. The aerosol is saturated with n-butanol vapor, and particles act as condensation nuclei as the vapor condenses onto them. The resulting droplets, now large enough to scatter light, are individually detected using a focused laser beam and photodetector system.
