The AVL fuel consumption measurement devices, which are distinguished by an extraordinarily high level of availability, meet these customer requirements to full extent. Their particular strengths are maximum measurement precision and reproducibility at minimal measurement times. Thanks to these very features the AVL FuelSystem PLU fits in perfectly with AVL’s line of fuel consumption measurement devices. It was optimized specifically for fuel consumption measurement on engine test beds during the development of passenger car engines. Due to its integrated fuel-change procedure and the automatic purge function, the excellently scalable measuring device is perfectly equipped for applications requiring frequent engine change. As with all AVL fuel consumption measurement devices in FlexFuel design, the AVL FuelSystem PLU is suitable for all types of commercially available fuels – from gasoline (EN228) with a mixing ratio of up to 100 % alcohol (M100 or E100) and diesel (EN590) to 100 % bio- diesel (EN14214). HIGH TEST-BED EFFICIENCY With rising fuel prices, the increasing complexity in powertrain technologies and the growing cost pressure in development, a high level of testbed efficiency is of crucial importance. The AVL FuelSystem PLU achieves the required efficiency by the exact determination of fuel consumption as well as its high reliability and short installation and commissioning times. The integrated function test allows a fast system functionality check to be executed. Paired with the online plausibility check for measured values, any incorrect measurements and irregularities can be detected early on, increasing the utilizable testbed runtime significantly. Low total cost of ownership is achieved through the AVL FuelSystem PLU spare parts management optimized for the installed basis and the connection compatibility with the existing AVL KMA 4000 infrastructure.
