Graz, March 6, 2026 – In its annual report for 2025 published yesterday, the Austrian Patent Office once again named AVL List GmbH the leading patent applicant in Austria. With 179 patent applications, AVL leads the ranking by a clear margin ahead of Julius Blum (105) and Siemens Mobility Austria (32). This marks the 15th consecutive year that AVL has taken first place in the Austrian patent ranking.

This once again underscores AVL's role as a technological pioneer and driver of innovation in the international arena.

A look at the technological focus areas clearly shows the company's strategic orientation: around 60% of patent applications relate to electrification. These include, in particular, innovations in fuel cells and electrolyzes, battery technology, hybrid and electric drives, including related simulation and test solutions.

If we include other key areas of innovation at AVL – including vehicle technologies, driver assistance systems, brake and tire emissions, data intelligence, and AI – more than 80% of patents relate to key future technologies for sustainable and intelligent mobility.

"Being recognized as the leading patent applicant in Austria is a special acknowledgment of the innovative strength of our employees. Our patents demonstrate how consistently we are working on key technologies for the mobility and energy supply of the future," says Mario Hartinger, Head of the AVL Patent Department.

The sustained success in patent applications is based on AVL's deeply rooted culture of innovation. It encourages employees worldwide to develop new ideas and drive technological solutions for the major challenges of the transformation of mobility and energy.

With this strong patent record, AVL once again confirms its role as an important driver of innovation for sustainable mobility and energy solutions.
