I N T E R V I E W TO SUCCESS
focus: How was the initial phase of
the project? Are you satisfied with
how the project went?
Nasch: Despite the extensive and
complex project, construction and
commissioning time was kept at 14
months after a short planning stage.
Meeting this goal required intensive
coordination between the project
managers and the entire planning
team. AVL showed itself to be a
very flexible and innovative partner
that could draw on the technical
expertise of numerous experts.
While there are always unforeseeable
challenges in a project of this
magnitude, we overcame them with
AVL’s support.
focus: Which aspects of the collaboration
were particularly important
for you?
Nasch: Early planning determines
later success for this kind of project.
In particular, you have to consider
the future requirements of the test
portfolio and the performance characteristics
of the test center. And this
is exactly where AVL was a great
help for us. But we also purposely
chose AVL’s test equipment because
of several technical advantages.
focus: What's next? Any future
plans?
Nasch: The second phase of construction
is under way. This is for battery
environmental tests, safety tests
and abuse tests. Starting in 2022,
with Dr. Tono Nasch
In March 2021, ISP Salzbergen GmbH
& Co. KG started the first construction
phase of a new battery test center. In
total, ISP is investing 60 million euros
in one of the largest European test
centers for the validation of battery
modules and packs. AVL has been
involved from the beginning, helping
with both a market analysis and a concept
study. focus spoke with Dr. Tono
Nasch, CEO of ISP, about his experience
collaborating with AVL.
