NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) is a critical aspect of automotive engineering, directly impacting the perceived quality, comfort, and overall driving experience of a vehicle. It directly affects driver comfort and satisfaction, which is an important cornerstone of brand perception. The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) presents new NVH challenges. Since electric powertrains are quieter than internal combustion engines (ICEs), other noises such as tire, wind, and drivetrain sounds become more pronounced. Achieving silent, smooth operation is crucial for EVs to maintain the comfort associated with ICE vehicles.

NVH and driver comfort are now more critical than ever. As entire drivetrains become quieter, driver expectations for noise performance continue to evolve. This shift brings new challenges, including the emergence of more noticeable and potentially irritating electrical sound characteristics. Additionally, external factors such as wind and rolling noise are becoming increasingly perceptible to drivers. AVL enables its customers with a large portfolio of NVH simulation tools, NVH engineering, and NVH testing systems.

We are your global partner in realizing the mobility of the future. A mobility characterized by its minimal impact on the environment. We offer you simulation solutions ranging from component to system analysis. As we are deeply integrated in the development process, our software solutions – tools and projects – enable you to master the challenges of virtualization.

Testing Solutions

nvh premium setup

Our testbed solutions are optimized regarding the sound attenuation of the noise generating parts and the sound reflection from the structure of the test system. This guarantees that the point of interest, the unit under test, is the focus of each single acoustic measurement. Moreover, we understand and commit to the strict and hard acoustic standards and aim to guarantee the commonly agreed NVH targets for each test system. All components are aligned, and the system is validated through an acceptance analysis to prove its performance.

Optimised solutions, worldwide applications

AVL’s comprehensive worldwide network of experts allows best customer vicinity, ensuring consistent and connecting testing fields globally. Wherever your R&D challenges take you, we are always close at hand, ready to provide the service you need.
