Driving Coach Technology for High-Performance Vehicles: AVL Italia and AS.CAR.I Join Forces

  • News

AVL Italia and AS.CAR.I, a high-tech company specializing in autonomous and assisted driving systems, have entered into a strategic partnership to bring an industrial-grade Driving Coach system to the high-performance vehicle market.

Presented at the ASC Vairano racetrack in Vidigulfo (Pavia), the new technology was unveiled by Dino Brancale, Managing Director of AVL Italia, and Riccardo Cesarini, Executive Co-Founder & Mentor of AS.CAR.I, alongside the technical teams. The event included a live test drive of an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio equipped with the system, which integrates state-of-the-art AI technologies for assisted driving on track.
Designed for owners of high-performance vehicles – often associated with the world’s most prestigious automotive brands – the Driving Coach enhances the track driving experience, where precision, control, and safety are critical. Unlike standard ADAS systems, this solution is tailored for circuit use, offering real-time feedback, active intervention on throttle and braking, and post-session analytics.

The AS.CAR.I Driving Coach can be installed during vehicle production or as an aftermarket solution, adding value and performance to supercars. AS.CAR.I developed the software and leads its ongoing evolution, while AVL Italia engineered the integration with the vehicle’s powertrain and control systems. The system adapts to the driver’s skill level, correcting errors and optimizing vehicle dynamics in real time. Using predictive control technologies and trajectory optimization algorithms derived from motorsport research, the Driving Coach not only assists but trains the driver, enhancing performance and safety. In essence, it acts as a smart safety car that learns and evolves with the driver.

“This partnership,” said Dino Brancale, Managing Director of AVL Italia, “signed through a Memorandum of Understanding, opens new opportunities for AVL Italia in the field of advanced technologies for sports cars. Thanks to our expertise in industrialization and integration, AVL is ready to turn this innovation into a scalable and reliable product. I’m very pleased with this synergy with AS.CAR.I, which reflects our long-standing commitment to building strong collaborations across the automotive sector and beyond.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with AVL Italia,” added Riccardo Cesarini, Executive Co-Founder & Mentor of AS.CAR.I, “a partner we recognize for its outstanding technological expertise, working methodology, and quality of interaction. We are confident that together we will give a decisive boost to the development and adoption of the Driving Coach among leading car manufacturers.”
