Simulation for Transmission and Driveline
Scalability is a central philosophy of AVL's simulation tool chain. Our portfolio offers transmission and entire driveline modeling on all required levels. It matches the needs of diverse applications in component and control development and vehicle integration, from general system behavior to the detailed analysis of losses of single components. We offer sustainable, safe and smart solutions that make it possible to understand the impact of each component as well as its modifications on vehicle fuel efficiency.
Durability and NVH Analysis of Transmissions and Drivelines
With AVL EXCITE transmissions can be calculated and analyzed on a stand-alone basis, on a transmission testbed, together with the combustion engine as power unit, or as an integrated subsystem of an entire driveline. Analysis targets include strength and durability of transmission and driveline components as well as detailed investigation of mechanical frictional losses in gear contacts and roller bearings of transmissions. Derived friction maps for each of the loss-contributing parts are then used in AVL CRUISE™ for vehicle system investigation, such as the power flow and loss distribution analysis during drive cycle tests. NVH investigation are related to transmission and driveline specific vibration and noise phenomena’s under stationary and non-stationary operating conditions (e.g. tip-in/back-out, start-stop) such as boom, clonk, rattle, whine, chatter, whoop or shudder.
AVL CRUISE™ Control Unit-Related Transmission and Driveline Simulation
AVL CRUISE GSP (Gear Shifting Program) represents the most efficient way to optimize the development of gear shifting programs.
AVL EXCITE™ NVH Analysis of Transmissions and Drivelines

AVL EXCITE™ NVH Analysis of Engine
AVL EXCITE is the ideal solution for the analysis of engine vibrations and acoustics in all phases of the engine development process.
AVL BOOST™ Acoustics
AVL BOOST offers linear and non-linear acoustics modules for the simulation of transmission loss, as well as linear and A-weighted sound pressure levels, free-field and in-duct acoustics, intake and/or exhaust orifice noise and octave band analysis.
