From September 10th to 13th, the THIESEL 2024 conference took place in Valencia. Hosted by the Clean Mobility & Thermofluids (CMT) University Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the conference saw AVL Ibérica’s active participation, continuing its tradition of involvement in all editions. 

To determine if an automated driving function is safe, billions of test kilometers would be required. Physical testing and real-world prototypes simply cannot efficiently handle such a massive test volume. Virtualization offers a more sustainable option that can manage the enormous test volume required at a much lower cost.

AVL Italia has won the tender issued by Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV), a company of the Campania Region operating in the public road and rail transport sector, for the construction of a 5MW (megawatt) green hydrogen production plant, with on-site storage and a 350 bar refueling station, for local public transport trains and buses.

AVL, TUPY and partners developed and tested a hydrogen high-pressure direct injection (H2-HPDI) engine, achieving a brake thermal efficiency (BTE) of over 50 %, with potential improvements up to 52 %. The engine's performance is comparable to diesel engines, with similar full load power and transient torque characteristics.

On August 30th, AVL Ibérica had the honor of hosting Nella Hengstler, Commercial Advisor, and Julieta García Olvera, responsible for the mobility sector of Advantage Austria, at our office in Mexico City.

The battery is undoubtedly the most complex component of modern electric cars and is largely responsible for the driving experience and range. However, over the course of its service life, it is subject to a continuous loss of performance due to degradation mechanisms that impair its storage capacity and thus the range and power output of the vehicle.
