In 2017, Ryan Heetderks first joined AVL Mobility Technologies, Inc. as an intern within the Advanced Development Methods team. Over the course of his Mechanical Engineering education at Michigan Technological University, Ryan continued to deepen his expertise through various internships with AVL, focusing on automotive technologies and methodologies. Upon graduation, his skills and dedication earned him a spot in AVL’s Engineering Rotation Program in 2022.
After successfully completing the rotation program in the calibration, vehicle, and methods teams, Ryan and AVL’s leadership team evaluated his strengths and opportunities for growth, leading to his placement as a Project Engineer I within the Advanced Development Methods group.
Continuous Skill Development
Ryan has gained extensive experience with AVL’s Integrated Open Development Platform (IODP) toolchain, practicing its full spectrum from the AVL Virtual Testbed™ (VTB) for early-stage vehicle and propulsion system simulation to powertrain testbeds (PTTB) for real-world calibration and testing.
In addition, Ryan developed expertise in test cell commissioning, including the setup and integration of AVL LYNX battery test automation platform, AVL PUMA testbed automation software, and AVL CAMEO for streamlined test execution. His contributions extend beyond individual projects, as he continues to support the AVL Technical Center in Ann Arbor while also contributing to powertrain testing initiatives at the AVL California Technical Center (CTC).
Dedication
With a passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality results, Ryan remains at the forefront of AVL’s mission to drive mobility advancements.
