AVL SCHRICK Performance Components

AVL SCHRICK Performance Components GmbH is the specialized manufacturing arm of the AVL Group. Since 2002, we have been adding a crucial element to AVL's engineering and testing expertise: the precise, high-quality production of real components. We close the gap between theory and practice - by transforming concepts from development into ready-to-install components.

As part of the AVL Group, we are embedded in a global innovation network. This provides security - technologically, economically and structurally. Our customers benefit from stable processes, worldwide experience and the reliability of a strong partner in the background.

At the same time, we operate as an independent company that can supply customers directly and independently of the parent network's projects if required. Many customers come to us directly because they are looking for a manufacturing partner who can produce small quantities flexibly, quickly and to the point. With around 90 highly qualified employees, we are exactly what prototype and small series production needs: agile, interdisciplinary and direct in implementation. Our size allows for quick decisions, short communication channels and close, personal cooperation - with maximum technical depth at the same time.

Minimum quantity

We specialize in prototype and small‑series manufacturing—an area that requires exceptional precision, flexibility, and deep process expertise. By combining craftsmanship with industrial standards, we deliver solutions beyond the capabilities of conventional manufacturers. This makes us the preferred partner for technically demanding components, from one-off parts and validation pre-series to small series for industry, hypercars, and the aftermarket.

Whether rotationally symmetrical, cubic or free-form - we are proficient in the mechanical production of all geometries and specialize in complex components in particular. The dimensions range from small valve adjustment caps to large truck engine blocks over a meter in length. We can process all types of aluminum, steel and titanium - cast, forged, solid or, increasingly, 3D-printed.

Turning

Rotational machining is at the heart of machining production. At AVL SCHRICK Performance Components, we have mastered this method in all its facets and down to the smallest detail. With our state-of-the-art, multifunctional machinery and efficient manufacturing processes, we produce high-performance components with maximum precision.

Induction hardening

Induction hardening is one of the most demanding heat treatment processes and is crucial for the performance and service life of highly stressed components. As we were unable to guarantee process reliability and quality externally to a sufficient extent, we have established inductive hardening internally. This allows us to control the entire process ourselves - from the exact setting of the hardening depth to the reproducible hardness distributio

Grinding

We grind camshafts and crankshafts in-house on CNC grinding centers designed for machining complex lift curves with form and profile grinding wheels. The profile accuracy is reproducible in the range < ±2 µm. Process parameters such as feed rate, infeed and cooling lubricant management are optimized for minimal thermal influences and maximum dimensional consistency. Critical geometric features such as cam apex, ramp course and bearing running surfaces are measured and documented inline.

Milling

Our milling machining enables the precise implementation of complex geometries - from deep cavities to intricate structures. With modern 3-, 4- and 5-axis technology, we manufacture complex components economically, with repeat accuracy and to series production standards - even in small quantities.
 

  • 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling centers with high rigidity and precision
  • Tool lengths of up to 800 mm for deep and complex installation space accesses
  • Travel paths up to 1,450 × 1,100 × 1,300 mm (X/Y/Z)
  • Machining of large components with workpiece weights of up to 1,500 kg
  • High repeat accuracy for prototypes and small batches

Assembly and finishing

Tailored to the respective requirements, we undertake the assembly and press-fitting of accessories such as valve guides, screws, sleeves and bearings in our assembly department. In this way, we guarantee maximum accuracy of fit and functional reliability from a single source. We also have a wide range of processes at our disposal to precisely meet even the highest surface requirements of our customers. With our in-house, specially modified systems, we also achieve a level of quality for prototypes that is otherwise only possible in industrial series production. The components we produce are therefore a guarantee for minimum friction, maximum service life and reliable performance - even under extreme conditions.

  • Strip finish and superfinish (Ra up to 0.03 µm)

Quality assurance

For us, quality is not a checkpoint at the end, but an integral part of every work step. We ensure precise dimensional accuracy down to the µm range through fully air-conditioned production areas, among other things. Our ready-to-install solutions are fully documented and quality-tested. This enables us to achieve and guarantee the specified quality for every single part that leaves our production halls. External services

Our core competence lies in machining. For supplementary processes such as heat treatment or coating, we rely on a strong network of regional, national and international partners. Thanks to close cooperation with material suppliers, foundries (iron and aluminum casting) and manufacturers of additively manufactured components, we are also particularly flexible when it comes to procuring raw parts. Our comprehensive supplier network enables us to cover all process-critical production steps seamlessly.
