Lukas Walter returned to AVL in 2025 as Chief Operating Officer of the Engineering division and took over the leadership of the entire strategic business unit. In this role, he strengthened AVL's innovative capabilities and competitiveness while advancing the transformation toward sustainable mobility solutions. In 2026, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board (CEO) of AVL List, succeeding Prof. Helmut List. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic direction and long-term success of the company.
Previously, Walter gained more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, particularly at MAN Truck & Bus and AVL. In his role as Senior Vice President at MAN Truck & Bus, he was responsible for global truck sales, engineering, as well as product strategy and planning. In this role, he led key transformation processes and played a crucial role in the company's development.
With his extensive experience in engineering, business development, and global sales, Walter brings comprehensive top management expertise to the leadership of AVL List.
