Consistent, Scalable and Open
Exhaust Gas Aftertreatment Simulation
The AVL Aftertreatment simulation suite, consisting of the tools AVL BOOST™, AVL CRUISE™ and AVL FIRE™, is a uniquely open and scalable solution that enables the consistent modeling of all physics and chemistry relevant to exhaust gas aftertreatment systems during all stages of the development process.
The AVL Aftertreatment simulation suite with its integrated 1D/3D approach, application oriented pre-defined kinetic models and its high degree of flexibility provides the answers required to design optimum solutions on a component, system and vehicle level.
Aperçu des avantages
- Consistent solution throughout layout, concept and detailed design phase from component to system level due to unique 1D/3D solution
- Highest possible scalability enabling solutions in different time domains including testing and calibration
- Easy integration in different operating environments due to openness
- Broadest spectrum of applicability in all transportation sectors
In the majority of projects the starting point for development and optimization of aftertreatment systems is 1D simulation. AVL BOOST™ offers the unmatched modelling depth, simple model setup and extremely short simulation times that are close to or even faster than real time. All together, it makes it the undisputed market leader among 1D aftertreatment simulation software. Kinetics parameter identification, large parameter variations and system optimization can all be mastered with superior performance that delivers the highest quality results.
AVL BOOST™ and AVL FIRE™ feature the industry's only seamless integration of 1D, 2D and 3D exhaust gas aftertreatment system simulation tools. Our tools offer perfectly identical mathematical, physical and chemical models. The development engineer can select at any time in the development process the tool that best matches his needs for performance and accuracy. Switching from 1D to 3D modelling or even in the other direction is possible without loss of consistency. Simulation setups can even be directly imported from one tool to the other just being applied in a different dimension in space. Aftertreatment system performance data that is calculated using BOOST™ and assembled to maps can also be integrated in AVL CRUISE™ models to predict drive cycle and test mode emissions.
AVL's solution offers pre-defined reaction schemes for all common aftertreatment devices. The user still has the freedom to modify or to replace the offered schemes. 1D model set-up files can also be re-used in 3D models, saving users from the time-consuming and error-prone re-entering of model data when switching from 1D to 2D/3D CFD.
Openness as Key to Success
Both BOOST™ and FIRE™ support deploying user defined code in the simulation procedure. Our software tools therefrore offer the option of linking user-defined code. In addition, AVL recently released the standardized AVL User Coding Interface (AUCI). This enables an engineer to deploy any reaction mechanism of choice without having to program a single line of source code. AUCI is equally available with booth BOOST™ and FIRE™. AUCI also supports the exchange of code between different parties involved in the development of an aftertreatment system. Quasi encryption protects proprietary information while still enabling everyone involved to get the same results.
