ARISE Project Kicks Off: AVL Italia Contributes to Next-Gen Solid-State Battery Innovation
- News
AVL Italia is proud to be part of ARISE Project (Advanced Battery System and Integration for Generation-4 Solid State Cells), a new research and development initiative aimed at revolutionizing the electric mobility landscape through the integration of next-generation solid-state battery cells.
Funded under a European program supporting the green transition, ARISE brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of industrial partners, research centers, and universities. The goal is to develop an advanced, safe, high-performance battery system that can be seamlessly integrated into the electric vehicles of tomorrow.
As a key technology partner, AVL Italia plays a central role in the project – starting with definition of eco-design requirements and specifications to ensure sustainability and circularity in alignment with the European Green Deal. Building on this foundation, AVL is leading the conceptualization of a next-generation battery architecture that integrates Gen4 solid-state cells directly into the vehicle’s load-bearing structure, optimizing space utilization, energy density, and crash safety.
In parallel, AVL is involved in designing an AI-powered Battery Management System (BMS) capable of real-time diagnostics and predictive control. The battery system is virtually integrated into the vehicle using digital twin simulations to assess thermal and structural performance. AVL also supports the validation phase through crash tests, thermal runaway simulations, and road trials, while contributing to the overall coordination and management of the project.
The ARISE project will span 36 months (Start date: 01.02.2025 / End Date: 31.07.2028) and represents a strategic milestone for AVL Italia in advancing sustainable, intelligent, and high-performance battery systems for the mobility of the future.
