How Virtual Battery Tests Help to Reduce Battery Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM) Parameter Identification From Weeks to Hours

Webinar ECM

Within the scope of battery development and ensuring the safe operation of batteries, accurately determining the performance characteristics of the cells is an important prerequisite. This includes being able to model the voltage and temperature response of battery cells under different transient loads and environmental conditions. Equivalent Circuit Models (ECM) are still widely used, as the parameter identification is rather simple and the resulting RC maps can be used directly in Battery Management Systems (BMS).

Up to now the ECM parameter identification required data obtained from measurements conducted through Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC) tests. In these tests, the cells are exposed to different ambient temperatures and C-rates within climatic chambers. This complex sequence can take several weeks, depending on how many sampling points need to be measured.

In our upcoming webinar, we will present an innovative approach that significantly accelerates this parameter identification process from weeks to hours. By virtualizing the entire process with the help of virtual twins of battery cells, which are created based on high-precision physical cell models, considerable time and cost savings can be achieved.

Key topics and takeaways:

  • Get to know Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization tests.
  • We explain, why accurate physical cell models are the fastest solution to derive Equivalent Circuit Models.
  • Learn how easy it is to generate input data from virtual pulse measurements.
  • See how we have automated the process of parameterizing and fitting of Equivalent Circuit Models.
  • Get a live demonstration of the entire workflow.
