Solution Engineer II (#2019-2401)

This position of Solution Engineer fulfills a vital role within AVL as an engine/powertrain testing expert.  AVL Test Systems, Inc. is looking for an  industry leader with at least 5+ years of experience, who can act as an industry advisor to our customers in support of the account manager team.  The Solution Engineer position will provide a unique opportunity to grow your passion for emerging technologies in the automotive industry through customer relationships.  This position works in parallel to account managers and consults directly with customers as the technical lead on engine/powertrain testing, to understand their goals and prescribe hardware, software, and methodology solutions to achieve those goals. Ideal candidates will have experience in electrification, battery, engine, powertrain, or chassis dynamometer testing with a specific focus on advanced propulsion technologies for passenger vehicles, diesel applications, or off-road propulsion systems.  In addition, strong communication skills are required with the ability to multi-task with a pro-active approach. Your Responsibilities:
  • Works with the AVL Account Manager to drive sales and achieve targets
  • Makes presentations and conducts product demonstrations at customer locations
  • Responsible for the technical content and accuracy of customer quotations
  • Provides market feedback for future product development and innovative approaches to increase sales revenues
  • Stays abreast of development activities at main competitors and creates/implements corresponding action plans
  • Works with Business Development to create strategic plans and product enhancements to increase market share and maximize revenue
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships
Your Profile:
  • BS in engineering required, MS preferred
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of powertrain testing
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • Demonstrated experience with AVL related products preferred
  • Demonstrated successful experience in technical sales preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and manage projects/assignments while under time restrictions
  • Strong communication skills
