AVL iGeneration SII Systems

Intelligent Emission Testing

The AVL iGENERATION Series II has set the standard for intelligent and intuitive emission systems for the last decade. It clears the way for smart R&D and certification emission testing according to the latest worldwide emission regulations.

i60

The iGENERATION Series II comprises the AMA i60 SII, CVS i60 SII, PSS i60 SII and SESAM i60 FT SII. The Series II emission measuring systems cover an extended portfolio of robust gas analyzers. Special attention was given to the improvement of detection limits, response times, serviceability and cost of ownership. An extended valve manifold with an increased number of phases results in a significant optimization of the CVS i60 SII full flow dilution system when running test cycles such as HEV/PHEV applications.

The FTIR i60 spectrometer with its specially enhanced gas cell provides better detection limits and faster response times at lower sample flow rates. Spectrometer serviceability and down times of critical components have been substantially improved.

The iGENERATION Series II systems come with 3 years of warranty.

Over the last fifteen years, the AVL iGENERATION product line has been setting the benchmark for emission measuring systems – with particular regard to the consistent platform technology and performance, alongside the related automation systems for engine and chassis dyno test beds. This success is confirmed by the impressive globally installed base of emission measuring and automation systems.

New emission regulations with lower limits, stricter test specifications and emission control procedures are changing powertrain and exhaust aftertreatment design, as well as the way how to test:

  • Hybridization and alternative fuels including hydrogen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • New test and measurement specifications, such as GTR15 (WLTP) and EPA 40 CFR parts 1065 and 1066 are beginning to foucs on other substances such as NO, NO2, NH3, N2O, HNCO and aldehyde compounds alongside existing limits for emission gas components.
  • New test cycles are longer than the previous ones, for instance, changing from NDEC to WLTC will add one emission test per work shift.
  • Plug-In hybrid testing procedures can easily last five times longer than conventional vehicle tests.
  • Manufacturers have more models and more variants.

Emission testing laboratories, departments and organizations have to adapt to these legislative requirements while coping with tremendous pressure to increase testing capacity and become more effective and efficient by testing in less time.

AMA i60 SII

Tailored Systems for Different Testing Applications

The iGENERATION Series II covers both engine and vehicle testing. The AMA i60 SII and SESAM i60 FT SII are ideally suited for raw gas measurements on heavy-duty and non-road engines. Vehicles are tested on a chassis dynamometer using the full-flow dilution method. The AMA i60 SII in conjunction with the CVS i60 SII and PSS i60 particulate sampler optimally support both R&D and certification testing.

In addition, we provide a dedicated solution, the AVL AMA i60 COMBI, for small off-road engines, motorcycles and ATVs. It combines an exhaust gas measurement system with a CVS dilution system, resulting in a compact and modular design.
A flexible extension of the measurement system is needed for specific measurement requirements. The AVL AMA i60 Remote/Stand Alone Units are mobile benches that are easy to move around and to use at different sampling points in a test field for the testing of selected emission gas components such as THC, NOX, N2O or CO2-EGR.

All different devices and systems required for a particular application are seamlessly integrated, providing the flexibility to be extended with additional functionality as desired.

AMA i60 SII exhaust measurement system

The AMA i60 SII features an extended portfolio of gas analyzers for diluted and raw exhaust emission testing. It offers wide dynamic measurement ranges for THC, CH4, NO/NO2/NOX, CO2, N2O, NH3, O2 and SO2. A collection of heated sampling systems incl. a boost pump is available for raw emission testing.

CVS i60 SII constant-volume sampling system

The CVS i60 SII for light-duty applications covers flow rates from 1 to 30 m³ and can be chosen with clean and dirty separation or as a SULEV system. The AVL single dilution tunnel is designed for all fuel types. The CVS can be configured with or without heat exchanger.

PSS i60 SII particulate sampling system

The AVL PSS i60 SII is a full-flow particulate sampling system and is used to collect particulates from the diluted exhaust gas on a filter during a test cycle. It is available as AVL PSS i60 SD (single dilution) or DD (double dilution) and allows the integration of a heated FID as well as particulate background measurement.

SESAM i60 FT SII multi-component exhaust measurement system

The SESAM i60 FT SII offers dynamic, accurate and synchronous measurement of NO, NO2, N2O, NH3, CO, CO2, CH4 as well as alcohols, aldehydes and more within one device.
