New methodologies such as multi-domain system simulation and model-based development approaches open up new perspectives for marine applications: The transient simulation of real-life operation considering all relevant domains (e.g. engines, propulsion system, electric transmission, batteries, fuel cells) supports system concept definition and system optimization with particular focus on the subsystem interactions.
